Loved the secretariat story as a metaphor for the unseen authoring the visible forms of our relationships. Very well done, but I didn't see the "keep your financial relationships shallow" idea coming. A surprising and intriguing twist. I came to visit your site after seeing you generously commenting on so many other substacks. Inspired to see you practicing the generosity you preach! Kudos James.

James, thank you for bringing all these pieces together. I really liked the Harvard study and the practices we can take every day to deepen our love for those we share deep relationships. I have also seen how acks of kindness, generosity, patience, and forgiveness create love in unexpected and unlikely situations. So maybe we can create a deep relationship with anyone we are directly engaging with in this moment if we are fully present. Keep them coming!

Secretariat's story was interesting and, while I knew of the legend, I was unaware of his heart size. My first thought was that it was abnormally large based on medical enhancements, such as steroids, that were probably not yet tested for. Suspicious through and through. I was then pleasantly surprised by the next section on relationships and being an invisible author of health through our healthy relationships with others.

It was a welcome reminder that all of the "soccer mom" friendships that are formed on the sidelines or benches of any sporting event or activity that my kids do are really meaningful connections!!! Initially formed to pass the time or inquire about some penalty that I do not understand, these have developed into some of my most meaningful connections and some of my best allies in parenting. Thank you for prompting that appreciation. Speaking of gratitude... thank you for taking care of my shallow market relationships so I may focus on the others!
